The Tigers get close in the sixth, but let the game on Monday with Union slip away

UNION — With two outs, down 3-1 in the top of the sixth, Waynesville (4-8) got two big RBI doubles to tie the game up with Union on Monday.

The fate of the baseball Tigers though, was even colder than the weather.

The Wildcats put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the frame and slammed the door in the top of the seventh to take the 5-3 win.

Seniors Joseph Murray and Jaylen Bragg were the two sixth inning saviors hitting back-to-back two-baggers.

After the first inning in which a Tiger pitcher gave up two runs on two hits and five walks, sophomore Ryan Pendleton was inserted into the game and he put together a pretty decent line.

In his five innings three Union runs were scored, but just one of those were earned. He gave up six hits, walked three and struck out two.

Sophomore Seth Hedrick had the other RBI for Waynesville. It was a double as well.
