  • A Pulaski County Jury deliberated a little more than an hour before finding a Dixon man guilty of posessing child pornography.
Joshua Warner, 34, of Dixon, was found guilty of two counts of the class B felony of Possession of Child Pornography after hearing two days of evidence.
The case was prosecuted on special assignment by Phelps County Assistant Prosecutor, Brendon Fox.
Special Investigator Wayne Becker of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and the South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force was able to download video files from Mr. Warner in 2011.
After execution of a search warrant at Warner’s Dixon home, S.I. Becker was able to locate the video files still on Warner’s laptop.
Later, Special Agent James Holdman with the Department of Homeland Security interviewed Warner at his home where Warner admitted he located child pornography on his laptop, but that someone else must have downloaded the files.
Forensic analysis of the laptop directly contradicted Warner’s story. ”Becker and Holdman are top notch investigators and they both did an excellent job on this case. Because of them another pedophile has been brought to justice,” said Fox.
Phelps County Prosecutor John Beger was pleased with the result. “Mr. Fox is a computer guy and was able to work with S.I. Becker to effectively explain some highly technical concepts for the jury which helped get the conviction,” said Beger.
When asked about being assigned to special prosecutor on the case Beger said, “My office was appointed to prosecute this case when the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office discovered a conflict. We have a reciprocal agreement with their office to cover each other’s conflicts. Because of this, both Pulaski and Phelps Counties have saved money on special prosecutor fees , which had been a problem for Phelps County in the past.”
Mr. Warner continues on bond until sentencing on July 9, 2014 at 9:00am before the Honorable William E. Hickle.
