The two Bulldogs miss All-State honors by nine total strokes

BOLIVAR — Dixon Bulldog golfers Josh Parker and Jeff Norman both shot a collective score of 170 over Monday and Tuesday at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar, Missouri during the state tournament to tie for 45th, missing All-State honors by nine strokes.

Only the top 15 golfers receive an All-State nod and the last golfer in the top 15 shot a 161.

The state champion this year was Kory Franks of Blair Oaks. He carded a 147.

Dixon coach Mike Phillips said he didn't care where his players finished, he was just proud of them for making it to the state tournament.

“So many high school kids play sports their whole lives and never get to play in a state championship,” Phillips said. “And both guys are underclassmen which means they plan on being back next year and finishing higher on the leaderboard.

“I enjoyed watching these two put in the time and focus to get to where they were these last two days. I know they made their families proud.”
