As a part of Fort Leonard Wood's Independence Day celebration, country music star Chris Young is slated to perform at 8 p.m., July 4 on Gammon Field here.
Young, a Grammy-nominated artist, will perform in conjunction with the 2014 Tour of the Troops Concert, hosted by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the Air Force Reserve. He is known for his songs "The Man I Want to Be," "Getting You Home," and "Aw Naw."
The Fourth of July events do not begin with the concert, though. The Independence Day festivities kick off at 8 a.m., with a myriad of activities to include "These Colors Don't Run 5K/10K Color Run," a car show, washer tournament, performances by the 399th Army Band and Kricket Alley, the Salute to the Union and wraps ups with a fireworks display.
The July Fourth celebration is free and open to the public. Those planning to attend should bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions and various booths will be available.
