  • A 33-year-old woman from Waynesville died early this morning after being ejected from a vehicle that overturned on Interstate 44 in St. Robert, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

  • A 33-year-old woman from Waynesville died early this morning after being ejected from a vehicle that overturned on Interstate 44 in St. Robert, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
    Three other people were all hospitalized for minor injuries after the accident that occurred near exit 163 in the eastbound lanes around 2:05 a.m.
    The woman was identified as Melissa T. Ferreire, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Pulaski County Coroner Mikel Hartness. She was taken to Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
    According to the report, 10-year old Nathan Neal, of Waynesville, was an occupant in the 2006 Acura TL driven by Ferreire.
    According to the MSHP report, the accident occurred when the Acura was changing lanes and sideswiped a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 19-year-old Sean Widner of Newburg. 28-year-old Sara Stewart, also of Newburg, was an occupant in the truck.
    The report states that the Acura traveled off the roadway after impact and overturned. Ferreire was then ejected from the vehicle.
    Ferreire was not wearing a seat belt. Widner, Stewart, and Neal were wearing seat belts.
    The Missouri Department of Transportation shut down all lanes of I-44 for several hours early this morning as crews worked to clear the the scene. All lanes reopened around 9 a.m. The Acura was totaled and the pickup had extensive damage.
    Ferreire's next of kin have been notified.
