  • John Clifford Lamb, son of Virgil Lamb and Bonnie (Stepp) Decker, was born February 5, 1950 in Muncie, Indiana where he grew up and attended school.

  •   John Clifford Lamb, son of Virgil Lamb and Bonnie (Stepp) Decker, was born February 5, 1950 in Muncie, Indiana where he grew up and attended school.
         On February 21, 1967, John entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his discharge on February 12, 1970.  He had attained the rank of Spec 5 and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert M-16 Ribbon and 2 Overseas Bars.  
         After leaving the military, John began working in the food business….donuts was his life.  After moving to the St. Robert / Fort Leonard Wood area, John opened a donut shop (Lamb’s Donuts) and was known throughout the area as having some of the best donuts.  He had perfected them.  
         In his spare time, John loved being outdoors.  You could find him out on the lake or in the river fishing.  He enjoyed just spending time in the water, even if he was not fishing.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.  
         John passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 in his home having attained the age of 64 years.  He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him.
         John leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter: Monica Lamb of Warsaw, IN; his mother: Bonnie Decker of Lebanon, MO; four siblings: Virgil Lamb and wife Jean of Eugene, OR, Jack Lamb and wife Debra of Amarillo, TX, Barbara Courson and husband David of Stoutland, MO, and Tim Decker and wife Natalie of Lebanon, MO; one stepbrother: Dennis Decker and wife Cathy of Hartford City, IN; one stepsister: Cindy Arnette of Hartford City, IN; one grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
         John was preceded in death by his stepfather: Chester Decker and one uncle: Kenny Decker.  
         Graveside services with military honors were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville with Pastor Don Preusch officiating.  Serving as escorts were Rick Smith, Mathew Ervin, Vicky Ervin, Nanci Quinn, David Leask and Chris Bryan.  Serving as honorary escorts were Jack Lamb, Virgil Lamb, Victor Wilson and Austin Wilson.  Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team.  Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
         Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John Lamb to the Wounded Warriors Project and may be left at the funeral home.
