  • Dan "Grover" Grosvenor headed out for a walk Monday, Aug. 25, on a 150-mile stroll.
The 38-year-old is an avid outdoorsman, a dedicated Missouri Tigers fan and a man who has a passion to make a difference.
"My plan is to hike the Katy Trail from where it starts in Machens (near St. Charles) on Monday and I hope to make it to Faurot Field by Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30) for the Mizzou (football) home opener," the Waynesville native said. "Along the way, I hope to raise $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation."
Grover has already raised $700 for the child he is sponsoring, Marshall, a 3-year-old who is battling an Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor (AT/RT).
This rare, high-grade tumor occurs most commonly in children younger than 2. It can be found anywhere in the brain.
Marshall's wish is to go to Disney World.
Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories.
Grover says on average he runs about five and a half miles a day so his goal of walking at least 30 miles a day shouldn't be a problem. He plans to camp at various towns along the way.
"My hope is to fulfill one of my dreams while also helping to make a wish come true for Marshall," he said.
