  • WHS student to receive Eagle Scout Award

  • Nicholas Victor, 15, of Boy Scout Troop 149, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, will be honored at a special Eagle Scout Ceremony at 5p.m. Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at Christ's Mission Church in St. Robert, MO. He is the son of Scott and Karen Victor.

  • Nicholas Victor, 15, of Boy Scout Troop 149, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, will be honored at a special Eagle Scout Ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13  at Christ’s Mission Church in St. Robert. He is the son of Scott and Karen Victor.
    Nicholas previous honors earned include the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and Student of the Month at Anne Arundel Middle School in Maryland. He was also appointed Captain of the Fort Meade Track Club in Maryland.
    Nicholas is a sophomore at Waynesville High School. He runs Cross Country and Track and Field for the high school. He has received varsity letters as a freshman in both sports.
    Nicholas is a member of Christ’s Mission Church and an active participant in the church’s youth group.
    Nicholas’ scouting career covers three separate troops due to his family moving around with the military. In all Nicholas has earned 29 merit badges and has spent 30 months in leadership positions, such as Scribe, Historian, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader for his troops.
    Nicholas participated in more than 50 hours of community service, not including the 40 plus hours he put into his Eagle Scout project. He built a Memorial Garden at the Fort Leonard Wood Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery for his Eagle Scout project. He supervised more than 30 people and spent 150 man-hours completing the garden, which he dedicated on Memorial Day of this year.
    Nicholas has also been elected in the Boy Scouts of America’s Order of the Arrow as an Ordeal member and he has completed the Mile Swim badge.
    Nicholas will be the first Eagle Scout in his Troop 149 since 2011. VFW 3176 is the Charter Organization for Boy Scout Troop 149.
    Nicholas hopes to attend West Point after high school and join the United States Army.
