West shows off his speed and accuracy with four goals in Tuesday's game against the Tigers

LAQUEY — Before the season started, Laquey Hornets (2-1) soccer coach Michael Podurgal spoke about the pieces he had lost during the offseason and who he was going to have to plug in here and there to fill in his midfield.

Following up a 23-1 season from last year is going to be though and he knows that, but if one guy was going to replicate what they had offensively, senior Ryan West was going to be that guy.

Tuesday displayed what gives him that confidence in his striker.

West scored four times for the Hornets in their 5-0 victory over visiting St. James.

The goals were assisted by assisted plays from Collin MacDonald, Jan Hinzmann, Garrett Reid and Hinzmann again, respectively.

Junior defender Skyeler Crutchfield scored the other goal following a defensive switch that moved him to the sweeper position.

Hinzmann received his third assist by giving Crutchfield the beautiful cross that allowed Crutchfield to score on a header.

The Hornets next games will be in the Fair Grove Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
