On the evening of March 10, 2018 Maries County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call of a physical disturbance in progress on MCR 634 in Dixon.
Upon the deputy's arrival it was discovered two males subjects, who are related, had been in an altercation resulting in both parties receiving serious injuries which required transport to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. One male subject suffered a stab wound to the lower abdominal area and the other male subject received lacerations to the head and suspected broken bones in one or both arms.
The investigation is ongoing at this time. Initial reports indicate a possible physical disturbance was occurring between one of the male subjects and relatives outside their residence and a second male subject overheard the disturbance from next door. As the second male subject attempted to intercede and stop the disturbance a fight ensued between the two men. During the altercation the initial male subject stabbed the male subject attempting to intercede. The second male subject then armed himself with a nearby tree limb and used it to defend himself and inflicted head and arm injuries to the male subject with the knife.
Once the investigation is complete a report will be submitted to the Maries County Prosecutor for review. Charges resulting from the disturbance, assault, and injuries sustained may be brought by the Prosecutor at that time.
We will update the public once that decision has been made.
