Pulaski County Commission
The Pulaski County Commission will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 25, in the county courthouse. Agenda items include a 9 a.m. meeting with Lois Snyder regarding ballot issues and a 10 a.m. recess for tax sales.
Crocker R-II School Board
The Crocker R-II School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the high school library. Agenda items include a superintendent’s report on facilities and surplus items, transportation, special education compliance, nepotism and conflict of interest policy, the athletic handbook, curriculum, early graduation, an A-plus report, House Bill 1678 on military families, finances, and the annual secretary of the board report; a report from building principals; public comments; a closed session for legal and personnel issues; action items of approving surplus items, hiring substitute bus drivers, a special education aide, and substitute teachers, approving a work session date with Sam Winn, approving additional bus routes, designating a homeless and English language learner coordinator, a Title IX coordinator, and a Section 504 coordinator, approving a nepotism/conflict of interest policy, social studies curriculum, athletic handbook, purchase of discovery education, an early graduation request, approval of a golf coach and special education aide, approving HB 1678 policies and the A-plus plan, purchasing of an electronic alignment tool, approval of the annual secretary of the board report, and setting the tax rate; and miscellaneous items including announcement of the MSBA Region 8 meeting in September and the MSBA October fall conference.
Pulaski County Tourism Board
The Pulaski County Tourism Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Pulaski County Visitors Center. Agenda items include a report from the leasing committee, a report from Executive Director Beth Wiles on marketing updates, meetings attended, the Visitors’ Center, and web site information; a motel tax report; community reports with an opportunity for Chamber representatives to briefly discuss new businesses and events from their communities; old business of setting board meeting dates for September, October, November and December; unspecified new business; and a closed session for contract negotiations.
Sen. Frank Barnitz listening post
Sen. Frank Barnitz, D-Lake Spring, has announced that his district legislative assistant, Wilma Rowden of Vienna, will continue her listening posts in August at locations throughout the 16th Senate District. Rowden’s schedule includes a Thursday, Aug. 28, meeting with the Pulaski County Commission from 9 to 11 a.m. at the county courthouse in Waynesville.
