If it’s art you like, head to the galleries. If it’s food or wine, the menus are endless.
If you like all three, Gallery Night is the perfect time to hit each one.
Modeled after metropolitan cities that have organized efforts of their own, the arts community has put together Gallery Night to bring venues together to share what they have to offer with the public.
On the third Friday of each month from 5-8 p.m. participating galleries and restaurants will offer special promotions, displays, serve refreshments and offer other promotions. Gallery Night runs from May through October.
Paul’s Supermarkets in Osage Beach and Lake Ozark will have wine tasting from 4 to 6 p.m.
Eight galleries and four restaurants have teamed up to provide an interesting selection of visual art that will please the culinary appetites of those who choose to take part in the event.
Gallery Night was organized by Bob Schwartz as a way to encourage residents and tourists to visit different venues and see what's available.
“The art community is coming out of the woodwork and we are trying to bring it out in the public eye,” Schwartz said. “We are giving artists more chances to show their wares and expose more people to arts at the lake.”
Restaurants will be serving signature dishes, offering specials and handing out discounts to patrons while galleries will have live demonstrations and showcase one-of-a-kind works.
New to the lake area, Silver Chateau on the Bagnell Dam Strip will display a line of jewelry made out of silver clay.
Owner Nancy Lohe says each piece is made from precious metal clay, recovered and processed from the silver in film. Purer than sterling silver, the clay allows the artists to come up with any type of design and creation imaginable.
The pieces are more works of art than traditional jewelry, she said.
Her business partner and daughter Brook Stark will be offering classes soon.
Also on display will be her line of homemade bath and body merchandise and clocks.
In Osage Beach, Artpho Gallery and Frame has photographs, prints, posters and other wall decor. While custom framing is the specialty, co-owner Karen Strange says they are most known for the photographs featuring Lake of the Ozarks.
Behind the camera Lewis Strange has a collection of shots of the lake area that draw people from all over.
Any artists or artisans that are not affiliated with a gallery are encouraged to display their wares on Gallery Night in an area set up at Stone Crest Mall.
Artists can set up free of charge. If needed, a table and chairs can be rented for $15.
