In response to the e-mail that is circulating within Pulaski County regarding "failed health inspections" please know that the Pulaski County Health Department - Environmental Section does not pass or fail food service establishments.
We note the critical and/or non-critical violations on the facilities Food Establishments Inspection Report.
If the violations can be corrected on site (COS) then that is noted on the inspection report, if the violations cannot be COS, then for critical violations the facility has 24 hours to correct the violation and a reinspection is conducted to ensure compliance.
For non-critical violations the facility has about one month or perhaps by the next routine inspection (NRI) {some facilities say they will have the issues corrected within one or two weeks, but normally we show one month just in case it takes longer to correct the issue}.
Please note that all Routine inspections are unannounced.
The facilities listed in the circulating e-mail may be viewed at:
http://www.pulaskicountyhealth.com/eph/foodinsp.html use the pull down box to select a facility then hi view history,  please look at the routine inspection report first then go to the re-inspection(s) report.
After receiving the numerous pone calls from facility owners and the general public pertaining to the original e-mail a 15 minute press release was recorded on May 12, 2010 with Gary Knehans at KJPW radio station.
Then on May 13, 2010 sections of the press release was pulled out and announced on the hourly news stories.
