The library is excited about "Bunnies!!!", a book voted as the Missouri Building Blocks Award Winner by children in Missouri.

For over twenty years, the Missouri Library Association has presented the Building Block award to one author and illustrator each year who have published the most popular picture book that year.  Its purpose is to encourage parents to read to their children, which studies show is so healthy for developing children, in so many ways.
You’re probably wondering, who chooses the most popular picture book?  Well, that’s the fun part!  Each year, parents and teachers read each of the ten finalists to their children.  The children submit votes for their favorite, and the book with the most votes wins the Missouri Building Blocks award that year.  This year, over 18,000 preschoolers and kindergartners participated!
The winner of the 2016 Missouri Building Blocks award was announced this week, and it is Bunnies!!! by Kevan Atteberry.  You can find Bunnies!!!, and all of the 2016 nominees, at any Pulaski County Library District branch.  Check them out!

Book of the Week

What else could we choose but the award winning Bunnies!!! for our book of the week?  Bunnies!!! is a picture book about a monster who is searching for his favorite things, bunnies.  Does he find them?  What does he want to do with them once he does?  Find Bunnies!!! at the Crocker, Richland, and Waynesville Libraries to find out!  We also recommend all of the other MO Building Block nominees from 2016.  The 2017 nominees will be announced and added to our library shelves soon, so stay tuned.
