The Fugitive Beach owners and staff reported that Saturday, June 10th, an 18-year-old male did not surface after going down the water slide. The man was identified as Kalon Green, of Belleville, Illinois, who was there with his family at the time of the incident.
According to the investigation performed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Fugitive Beach staff members immediately jumped into the water after it was reported that Green had not surfaced.
Sgt. Cody Fulkerson, public information officer for the MSHP’s Troop I, said CPR was performed on Green immediately after he was pulled from the water, and a slight pulse was detected. He was then rushed to Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC), where he was pronounced deceased.
Sgt. Fulkerson said there was no evidence of faulty equipment, according to the investigation. He added that a combination of lifeguards and off-duty first responders who were on the scene that day collectively tried to help.
“Everybody who knew how to do something rushed in to help,” he said.
This is Fugitive Beach’s second drowning in three years. The Rolla Daily News was unable to reach representatives from Fugitive Beach, but will update the story as we obtain more information.
