The University of Missouri Extension in Pulaski County and Central Missouri Regional Arthritis Center are offering the six-week workshop "Living Healthy with Diabetes" licensed by Stanford University. This workshop will teach persons with diabetes and their caregivers the tools needed to design their own self-management program so they can live a longer and healthier life.
Workshop participants will learn tips on how to eat well and exercise; how to manage their symptoms; how to relax and handle difficult emotions; develop effective problem-solving skills; how to work well with their doctor; and how to manage their medications. They will receive a copy of the workshop manual Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and a relaxation cd.
The workshop will meet on six Thursdays, starting October 5th through November 16th, at the Jesse E. McCully library in Dixon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the conference room. The workshop is free of charge and open to persons with any type of diabetes or pre-diabetes, and to persons caring for someone with this chronic condition. To register, call the Pulaski County Extension Office at (573) 774-6177.
