The St. Robert Board of Aldermen met Tuesday, August 8 and the city’s website, the airport and insurance were among the topics discussed.

Mayor George Lauritson, Alderman Charles Slider, Alderman Linda Daniels, Alderman Allan Johannsen, Alderman Michael Myers, Alderman John Moore,  Alderman Theresa Cook and Alderman Reggie Hall present. Alderman Todd Williams was absent.   

Don Copland ,IT Manager for the City of St Robert, presented a proposal for a new website design,  several ordinances were discussed and approved, and departments updated the board.  

July 11 and July 20 meeting minutes  were approved.  July 25 and August 8 payment of bills and treasurer’s report, read by Alderman Daniels, were also approved.

Department Updates

Public Works Department: Steve Long, Director of Public Work, told the Board of Alderman that the concrete work on Freedom Rock is complete and the outer shell will be done before Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II  arrives to paint the mural on the rock on August 28 - September 11, 2017. The public works department has been working on street sweeping and changing out worn out electric poles.

Transfer Station:  Reminder from Anita Ivey, interim City Administrator, for transfer station manager, Jay Whittaker; A special collection of appliances and electronic devices will take place on August 26, from 9am to 1pm at the St. Robert Community Center.   A grant from Missouri Department of Natural of Resources Special and Ozarks River Solid Waste Management gives residents an opportunity to turn in CRT computer monitors, flat screen tv’s, flat screen computer monitors, and refrigerated appliances for only ten dollars per item.  Three more things you should know from the Board of Alderman meeting are:

New user friendly, customer oriented website in the works for St Robert.

    Ordinance 3108 authorized a service agreement with CivicPlus for website layout and training.

     In his presentation, Don Copland , IT Manager for the City of St. Robert, stated “ CivicPlus specializes in government  websites. The new website will be better and more modern.”

    Some of the other features of the new website will be: more pictures, a drop down menu, a search function, and calendar.  To keep citizens informed and engaged with St Robert, the new website will also have a “notify me” feature ( email or text) and an alert feature. The new website will be just as accessible on tablets and cell phones as it is on a computer.  

    2. Approval of ordinance sets the way for Waynesville/St.Robert Regional Airport project

Ordinance 3108 authorizes the mayor to execute aviationproject consultant agreement  between the City of St. Robert,Waynesville, and Crawford Murphy & Tully Inc. The project consultant will be working on a project at the Waynesville/St. Robert Regional Airport.  The project encompasses constructing a parallel taxiway to runway 14-32, constructing a wind cone, and constructing a fuel access road.

     3.Renewal of property, casualty and cyber insurance.

    Ordinance 3110  and ordinance 3111 were approved and authorized the mayor to execute a contract agreement  between St. Robert and Missouri Rural Services Corp, through Bassett Insurance for property, casualty, and cyber liability insurance.
