More than 70 military officers from more than 30 different countries will come together to put on the 17th annual Know Your World event at Nutter Field House, from 6 to 8 p.m., Aug. 25.

Fort Leonard Wood is home to a diverse military presence. Military personnel from all around the world come to train at Fort Leonard Wood and they bring with them cultures that many have never experienced.

According to event organizers, this event is an opportunity to learn about new cultures, ask questions, taste exotic food, and see photos and displays from the various countries represented.

The event is kid friendly, as there will be a “passport” available for children, which they complete by getting answers to questions about different countries from participants. Once they fill their “passport” they will get a certificate.

Richard Dauphin, field studies program assistant, said this is a great opportunity for the community to come together and experience the world through these officers.

“Take a trip around the world without leaving Fort Leonard Wood,” Dauphin said.

Refreshments will be available for everyone to enjoy at this free event. - more -

The Know Your World Reception is open to the public, and visitors without a Department of Defense identification card will still need to receive a background check to gain access.
