Richland’s junior class hosted a car show at Richland High School Saturday, August 26 where Junior, Caleb Tyre was honored.

Richland’s mayor, Eldon Haun, proclaimed August 26 to be Caleb Tyre Day. Tyre is a Richland Junior High School student who has been fighting Leukemia for the last couple of years.

“Caleb Tyre is a dedicated citizen. He resides in Richland, Missouri, is a member of the junior class at the Richland High School, and has been fighting Leukemia and is now in remission,” Haun said.

Haun called Tyre an inspiration to the entire community, saying “he produced a positive influence which reflects in a manner that is upbeat for the good and growth of the community.”

“Now, therefore, I, Eldon Haun, mayor of the city of Richland, Missouri, deem it an honor and privilege to tender our appreciation to Caleb Tyre as he is honored today. Further we extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the determination with our best wishes for continued good health and happiness,”Haun said.

The Walmart National Heart Program was on hand at the event and presented Tyre with an honorary Wal-Mart Driver Association button up shirt and they traveled via convoy to the Walmart in Saint Robert.

Money from raised from the car show event went towards the junior class Project Prom. Project Prom is meant to provide a safe and fun place for students to go after prom.

Danielle Hill-Green, an event organizer, shared the results of the car show with the Daily Guide. Danny Patton won the Class 1 Original or Restored 1900-1963 category with a 1955 Chevy Bel Air.

Richard and Tamera Newell won the Class 2 Original or Restored 1964-Present category with a 1966 Chevelle.

In the Class 3 Trucks category, Mac and Beth Myers won with a 1949 Chevy 3100.

Amber Hendrix won the Class 4 Work in Progress category with a 1971 Pontiac Ventura.

In the Class 5 Street Rods category, Laura and Robert Smith won with a 1933 Ford 3 Window Coupe (Lady Luck).

Mac and Beth Myers won in the Class 6 Rat Rods category with a 1940 Ford Rat Rod.

In the Class 7 Muscle Cars category, Jim Bales won with a 1957 Chevy 2 Door.

In the Class 8 Camaro category, Jeff and Diane Wolff won with a 2011 Chevy Camaro SS.

Margie Daniels won with a 1969 Corvette in the Class 9 Corvette category.

In the Class 10 Mustang category, Randy Hildebrand won with a 1979 Ford Mustang.

In the Class 11 Motorcycle category, Adam, Mona, and Gavin Shaw won with a 1976 Harley-Davidson Sportster.

In the Class 12 Tractor category, Charla Baker won with a 1945 John Deere LA.

In the Class 13 Student category, Caleb Tyre won with a 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air.

In the Class 14 Pedal Car/Battery Car category, Mark Decker won with a T-Bird.
