This weekend you can find fresh shrimp right here in Missouri, get scared on a haunted river float, or hang out in the park and watch a movie free with the family.

1. Shrimpfest

Shrimpest is a unique event held in the Dixon area by a local prawn farm, Show Me Shrimp Farm, where the pond the prawns are raised in is drained and harvested. The event features fresh prawns for sale, plenty of entertainment, wine tasting, camping, bounce houses for the kids, games such as horseshoes, volleyball, and other family-friendly entertainment. Shrimpfest is located at 15750 Conway, Rd. in Dixon. Shrimpfest is held over two days, Saturday Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10. For more information call 417-664-2307.

2. Haunted River Float

Every Friday and Saturday night in September, Ruby's Landing in Waynesville is hosting the Haunted River Float. Your journey begins with an approximately one-half mile float in an 8-man raft. From there, you'll go into a haunted corn maze, the haunted woods, and then the haunted house, if you aren't too scared. The $25 fee includes one free night of primitive camping. For more information or to make reservations call 573-855-9567.

3. Free Movie in the Park

Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 8:30 p.m. the Crocker Community Park will be hosting a free movie in the park. The movie will be Disney's Cars 2, a family-friendly movie for all ages. Additionally, there will be concessions available. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this free event.
