This weekend venturing out of the immediate area will net travelers some unique fun such as a movie in a vineyard, a food truck festival, or cider festival.

1. Movie night in the vineyard


Looking for a fun and different place to take your sweetie for a date night? Saturday, Sept. 16, St. James Winery would like to invite you to join them for Movie Night in the Vineyard. Their fifth and final movie for the year is Grease. This is a FREE event! The vineyard gate opens at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts after SUNSET. Movie Nights in the Vineyard are located outdoors at the Vineyard Cottage (19506 CR 1000, St. James, MO 65559). Admission is free. St. James Winery wines and juice, McIntyre Ciders, Public House Brewing Company: St James' beer, popcorn, soda, water, and candy will all be available for purchase. (Must be 21 to purchase alcohol, ID required – no outside alcohol is allowed.) Bring your own seating, as well as appropriate clothing and blankets as needed. Please, no smoking.


2. Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street

Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17, in downtown Springfield you can enjoy some family friendly fall fun. Celebrate 20 years of Cider Days beautiful Historic Walnut Street. This two-day fall festival features regional artists and crafters, three performance stages, pumpkin carving, fall-themed activities for kids, and, of course—delicious real apple cider! 3. Missouri Food Truck Fest

Saturday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown Springfield, you can make your stomach happy in a unique way. Food trucks and foodies will gather this September 16th 2017 in Springfield, Missouri for the 3rd Annual Missouri Food Truck Festival & Competition. Held in downtown Springfield, MO on St Louis St. in the large lot next to the Springfield Expo Center, this is a one day event featuring the best gourmet food trucks, carts and trailers from around the state of Missouri and beyond. Featuring the brightest and most inspired street chefs offering their food for you to purchase and enjoy. With this being the 3rd year of the event we are to have even more for Food Trucks, Trailer and Carts that offer everything from gourmet hot dogs, sandwiches, Empanadas, BBQ, Mexican & TexMex, American, Vegan, Italian, American, Seafood, Farm Raised, Asian, Latin, Mediterranean, and sweets.
