irst grader Kamryn Zarcone received two surprises on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Freedom Elementary – first, her mom Britney Jackson walked in with cupcakes and then her dad Staff Sgt. Archie Jackson, who has been deployed to South Korea for the past nine months, walked in with her siblings Kendrick and Kairyn.
“I was really happy my dad came home from Korea,” Zarcone said. “I missed him being here.”
After leaving the classroom, Jackson reflected on the surprise. “Her reaction was priceless,” he said. “It was excellent to see her, her new class, her teacher and her school.”
Since Jackson was deployed at the start of the school year, this was his first visit to Freedom Elementary. Last year, Zarcone attended East Elementary as a kindergartner, but this year moved to Freedom Elementary when both East and Freedom became K-5 buildings.
