The Square in Waynesville will be a sea of blue, at least Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Hillman hopes so, on Thursday, Oct. 5.
Hillman is sponsoring Back the Blue, a support of law enforcement walk at 5:30 p.m. beginning in Waynesville Park.
Back the Blue was previously held in the summer time, but Hillman moved it to the fall to avoid the summer heat.
Pulaski County residents are invited to join the walk wearing blue to show their support for Pulaski County's law enforcement officers "during this difficult period of time," Hillman said in the event information about Back the Blue.
Law enforcement has faced a lot of criticism around the country in recent years including incidents like Ferguson in the St. Louis area. Back the Blue is meant to show Pulaski County's law enforcement members that their community supports them in the jobs that they do.
The Pulaski County Prosecutors Office said, "Please wear blue in support of our law enforcement officers who put their lives at risk to keep us safe!"
The walk will begin at Pavilion number three in Waynesville City Park. It will pass the old Waynesville Police Department, head down the street towards the Square, move around the Square passed the courthouse and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, and return to the park.
