Calling all bakers! It's that time of year, when you start thinking about baking cookies and other yummy treats for the holiday season. If you're a baker, you may want to enter our cookie contest.
We're looking for the best cookie baker in Pulaski County with a winning cookie recipe. That could be you, if our judges think your cookies are the best.
This year, we have some special guest judges with very discerning tastes to judge our cookie contest. The field staff of the Pulaski County Sewer District #1 will be acting as judges for the Daily Guide's cookie contest this year.
Sewer District Board President Gary Porter said he would be happy to allow his field staff to venture over to the Daily Guide office and act as judges for the contest this year. The staff is really looking forward to eating our readers' entries. Don't worry, we'll get photos of them judging your cookies!
The only entries that will be accepted into the contest will be cookies. Cupcakes, fudge, candy, cake balls or cake mix cookies, no matter how delicious, will not be accepted. However, that probably won't stop our judges from eating them, they just won't be eligible to win the contest. This contest is for cookies only.
Our judges will be judging entries based on flavor, texture, and appearance. Entrants must bake a dozen or more of their best cookies and bring them by in a container or plate that they don't intend to get back. The Daily Guide will not be responsible for containers or plates.
You must provide the recipe, your name, and contact information with your entry. You may also email recipes to email@example.com. By entering the contest, you are agreeing to have your recipe printed in the newspaper.
Entries must be dropped off at the Daily Guide office by noon on Thursday, December 14. If you would like to enter the contest, but cannot drop your cookies off that morning, you may drop them off Wednesday afternoon before 5:30 p.m, but must understand that they will not be judged until after noon the following day.
There will be prizes awarded for first, second, and third place in the form of gift cards. The first place winner will receive a $50 gift card and bragging rights that they baked the best cookies in Pulaski County! The second place winner will receive a $30 gift card and the third place winner will receive a $20 gift card.
The winning cookies will be photographed and the recipe will be printed in the Saturday, December 16 weekend edition of the Daily Guide. If you are chosen as a winner, the Daily Guide will give you a call.
The Daily Guide wishes everyone good luck and may the best baker win!
