The City of Lights Kickoff event in Richland came on Saturday, November 25 with warmer weather than last year.
Country duo Makenna and Brock performed again this year. According to their Facebook page, Makenna and Brock are from Springfield, Missouri and “first met in 2007 while performing at a Children’s Miracle Network benefit show. Makenna and Brock instantly connected both on and off stage and ended up becoming a permanent duo and great friends.”
The Richland Chamber of Commerce hosted this event on McClurg Street. A live band performed; little girls could get pictures with their favorite princess; the Chamber of Commerce featured a classic car cruise in. This event was a good chance to shop locally too because a few downtown shops were open.
Even though the kickoff event is over, visitors can still come and enjoy the lights. From now until December 31, “downtown Richland will be showcasing an interactive Holiday Light Show,” according to the City of Lights Facebook page. “During Friday and Saturday evenings, visitors can enjoy the Village Market. The Village Market will have local artists & crafters with quality items available for purchase. A photo area for families to take pictures. Throughout the community Selfie Stations are set-up [sic] to stop and grab a quick picture.”
