As managing editor of the Daily Guide, I couldn't be more excited to announce that the Daily Guide's office will be moving to a new location.
The Daily Guide will be moving to Roubidoux Plaza, on the Square, across from the courthouse in downtown Waynesville. We'll be next to Just Because and Cellar 66. This move comes at an exciting time for the Daily Guide and lots of good things are happening in your local newspaper.
We'll be introducing an e-edition soon, which will be available online. For those of you who aren't familiar, e-ditions are presentations of what the newspaper looks like in print with some added enhancements like links to videos and related content.
Speaking of video, the Daily Guide has a new Youtube channel that is streaming to our website now. We've been very excited about that and are learning the ins and outs of Youtube so that we can offer a richer experience to our Youtube followers.
If you're already following us on Youtube, you've been seeing all of Allen Hilliard's great sports videos, with game highlights, and interviews. We'll be jumping into Youtube Live in the new year and trying out some more of Youtube's great features.
The move to the new space marks the end of an era for the Daily Guide, but the beginning of some good changes. When we moved our print operation to Columbia, my first thought was, "Can we move the office to the Square?"
It turns out that we can. Our current building is being put on the market for sale or lease, in case anyone is interested.
I wanted to move the office to the Square so that the Daily Guide could be in a central location, at the county seat, and a lot more visible for our readers. I hope you all take some time to stop in and visit us at the new location, but while we transition to the new space, have patience with us. Office hours will likely be erratic for the next two weeks as we move.
Once we get moved in completely, which should be in about a week or so, readers are encouraged to stop in check out our new digs. I'd love to hear from you in any case, as we look towards the new year.
The Daily Guide is looking at redesigning our look, creating a new logo, and considering content changes for the newspaper. I'd like to know what you would like to see more of, hear what is working for us, what isn't working for us, and have a conversation with you in general.
I'm open to having constructive conversations with readers and generally enjoy those every time one happens. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you in our new office space.
