The Dixon Bulldogs and the Stoutland Tigers had a classic matchup on Friday. The Bulldogs were able to win the Frisco League game 87-86 in outstanding fashion.
The Stoutland Tigers took an early lead at home and led 21-17 after the first period. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers had outstanding second quarters as the Dixon shooters won the period 27-25. The Stoutland Tigers lead 46-44 after the first half of the game.
The Dixon Bulldogs came out strong in the third period and won the quarter 28-17 to give them the first lead of the night. Dixon led 73-63 after three quarters of play. The Tigers came out strong in the final period and outscored Dixon 32-15 but were unable to make up the point difference. The Bulldogs won the conference contest 87-86 in front of a strong crowd at Stoutland High School.
The Dixon Bulldogs were led by Sabastian Salais with 21 points. Tyrone Harris scored 19 points for the Bulldogs. Trey Holzer was not far behind with 18 points in the win. Both Seth Parker and Walker Shelton scored 10 points for Dixon. Braden Mahurin scored seven points and Quest Winkle added two points.
The Stoutland Tigers were led by Jake Pendergrass with 33 points in the outstanding game. Mason Johnson scored 17 points and Zane Hodges added 16 for the Tigers. Joey Dickerson scored nine points and Wyatt Launder scored eight points for Stoutland. Dayton Newell scored a basket and Austin Benavidez made a free throw in the game.
The Dixon Bulldogs are now 6-9 on the season and will be in the Iberia Tournament this week and the Stoutland Tigers are now 5-9 on the season and will travel to Bourbon on January 20th.
