The Waynesville Lady Tigers opened the Washington Tournament with a tough first round game against the Parkway West Lady Pathfinders. They came away with a big win.
The Lady Tigers controlled the entire game and won an impressive game by just under 40 points.
Waynesville came out in the first quarter and outscored the Lady Pathfinders 11-2 in the opening period. Waynesville once again continued to dominate in the matchup as they outscored Parkway West 14-8 in the period. The Lady Tigers went into halftime with a 25-10 lead in the tournament game.
The third period was no different for Waynesville as they continued to dominate on offense. The Lady Tigers outscored Parkway West 19-9 in the third period. Waynesville led 44-19 after three quarters of play in the game. The final quarter left a clean sweep to allow Waynesville to win every period of the game. They outscored the Lady Pathfinders 20-8 in the final period of the first round matchup. The Lady Tigers moved on to the semi final game that was played yesterday. The Tigers will with play in the championship game or the third place game later in the week.
Head Waynesville Lady Tigers Basketball Coach Brittany Matlock said this after the big win, “It is always good when you can get everyone involved. We had lots of positives for everyone to build off of. Our next game Wednesday semi finals of Washington tourney vs the winner Pacific or Lutheran South.
The Waynesville Lady Tigers were led by Stone with twenty two points in the win. Both Evans and Shoulders scored ten points for the Waynesville girls. Perry and Coleman added seven points each in the game. Poinsette scored four points in the win. Both Handley and Conatser scored two point in the big first round game.
The Parkway West Lady Pathfinders were led in scoring by Allgyer, Swihart, and Smith with six points each in the loss. Wolf scored five points while Vietmeyer added three points. Meyer added three points of her own.
