Richland Missouri Ozarks Community Action, Inc.’s (MOCA) Tri-County Head Start participated in their first ever Shoes from the Heart program this year.

Shoes from the Heart is a charitable program that provides shoes to children in need. According to their website, “Shoes from the Heart believes in making a difference in the lives of those who have been affected by unforeseen circumstances by simply providing a basic need that we cannot live without.......Shoes.”

Cindy Bonuchi started Shoes from the Heart in 2012. Her husband, Donnie, has taken over since her passing, however. Shoes from the Heart serves the entire state of Missouri and parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas.

Shoes from the Heart delivered 17 pairs of tennis shoes to children in Richland. Additionally, Shoes from the Heart delivered over 400 pairs to MOCA’s other locations.

MOCA has 14 centers and serves eight counties: Camden, Crawford, Gasconade, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Phelps, and Pulaski.

“This is a great blessing to our children and the families we serve at Head Start. It’s over 400 children with new shoes. We are so appreciative of Donnie and his organization,” Head Start Clerk Heather Becker said.
