The Richland Lady Bears win their first game of the Newburg Tournament on Monday night. They played the eight seed Springfield Rush.

The Lady Bears won the first period big 21-8 and set a tone that would last throughout the entire game. Richland once again outscored the Rush 15-13 in the second period. The Lady Bears went into halftime with a 36-21 lead.

The Richland girls came out from halftime and outscored the Springfield Rush 22-7 in the third quarter. The Lady Bears increased their led to 58-28 after three periods of play. Both teams scored ten points in the final period as the younger players had a chance to get some game time. The RIchland Lady Bears won the first round game 68-38.

Morgan Moss led the Lady Bears with twenty four points in the win. Brittany Latham had a double-double in the game with fifteen points and eleven rebound in the game. Jaycee Graves scored eleven points and Jessi Whittle scores ten points for Richland. Katelyn Cole scored eight points in the first round victory.

The Springfield Rush girls were led in the game by Olivia Lynch, Hannah Bolick, and Megan Whitaker with ten points for each girl. Chelsea Whitaker scored four points in the loss. Both Brianna Schrandt and Bailey Faulcomer added two points for the Rush.

Both team played yesterday. The Lady Bears Play in the Semi Final game and the Rush will play on the consultation side of the tournament.
