The car was driving west in the eastbound lane of I-44 around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
A Waynesville man is dead after a head-on collision on Interstate-44 early Saturday morning in Laclede County.
Jarrett L. Crowley, 37, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu the wrong way in the eastbound lane of I-44 when he encountered eastbound tractor trailers at mile marker 134 around 1:27 a.m. February 3, 2018, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
Crowley was killed. The drivers of the tractor trailers were uninjured.
The crash report states that a tractor trailer driven by Daniel H. Gorz, 35, of Demotte, Indiana was attempting to pass another tractor trailer driven by Ali Adnan, 32, of Marino Valley, California when they encountered the car driven by Crowley. The semi-truck driven by Gorz went off the roadway after striking the car head-on. The other semi-truck was struck by debris from the wreck and stopped on the shoulder.
Crowley was pronounced dead at 2 a.m. by Coroner Steve Murrell.
The crash report indicated he was not wearing a seatbelt and the car was totaled.
This was MSHP Troop I’s first fatality for February and for 2018.
