Are you looking for a furry friend this Valentine’s Day? The Pulaski County Humane Society is hosting an adoption event to help locals find their furry Valentine.

Those who are interested can come to Off the Top Barbershop and Salon in St. Robert on February 11th between the hours of ten and five to meet your “furever” friend.

Animals available for adoption will be on hand to meet prospective families during the event.

Individuals who attend may be lucky enough to meet Pippa. She is a young border collie shepherd mix that will grow to be medium in size. Despite having a rough past, she is very loving and playful and is simply seeking a loving family to call her own.

Those looking for an older pet may be interested in the loveable Benji. Sadly, he lost his owner and was brought to the adoption center with nowhere else to go. Benji is a Labrador Retriever, nine years old, and weighs about 55 pounds. He is housebroken, good with cats and dogs, and would make a great companion.

Perhaps a smaller dog is what you are looking for. If so, Ivy would make a great addition to your family. She is a Chihuahua, weighing approximately ten pounds, and is eight years old. Ivy can be shy at first, but once she warms up she is very sweet and loving.

If cats are more your style, come meet Basil. This snuggly kitten is sure to make a great addition to the family. His mother was a beautiful Siamese cat. Basil is black in color with medium length hair.

There will be other dogs and cats available to meet at the event. For dogs, adoption donations are $120, which includes spay/neuter, negative heartworm test, vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, flea and tick prevention, and dewormer. For puppies, the donation is $150 to offset vet costs. Cat and kitten adoption includes spay/neuter, negative Feline Leukemia test, vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, flea and tick prevention, and dewormer. The donation is $75 for one or $125 for two.

Participants of last year's Valentine’s adoption event were extremely pleased and happy to find their forever friend. Justine Swan was one of those people. She says, “it was a nice day with fun activities and we adopted a great dog that we named Maya.”

Sarah Howard, manager of Loving Paws Adoption Center says, “it is important to have events such as this to raise awareness about animals in need in our area. We strive to offer healthy, spayed and neutered animals to locals and to reduce the amount of unwanted animals and new litters.”

If you are not looking to adopt, monetary donations are appreciated. Donations of food and toys for both dogs and cats as well as cat litter is also accepted and greatly appreciated, as Loving Paws Adoption Center is a nonprofit organization.
