The Waynesville Tigers on another Ozark Conference Wrestling Championship on Saturday. They have been dominating wrestling in the conference since joining the conference 14 years ago. This is Waynesville's third Ozark Conference Championship in five years.

The Waynesville Tigers won the meet with one of the closest team wins in conference history. The Tigers defeated the Lebanon Yellow Jackets 199.5 to 196 for the title. The Rolla Bulldogs came in third with 184 points and the Camdenton Lakers scored 102.5 points as a team for a fourth place finish.

The Tigers placed 12 wrestlers in the top four places.

Six Tigers were 2018 Conference Individual Champions. Gaven Sax won the 132 weight class. Sean Sax won his fourth conference championship. Michael Cassidy  won the 145 class while Daniel Albrecht won the 160 weight class. Daniel Stearns won the 170 class while Andrew Leitold was the 195 lb champion.

Sophomore Gaven Sax improved his record on the year to 35-2 with his win over Camdenton Junior Ryan Rothove by forfeit. Senior Sean Sax won his fourth Ozark Conference Championship in his career as he defeated Senior Gabe Blain from Camdenton with a pin fall. Sax is now 42-0. Junior Michael Cassidy gave Waynesville their third straight individual champion as he defeated Senior Coleman Brainard of Rolla by a 4-2 decision and improved his record to 40-3 in the 145 weight class.

Junior Daniel Albrecht defeated Springfield Glendales Cameron Flanagan with a pin fall in the second period to improve his record to 26-10. Senior Devon Stearns won the 170 lb weight class as he defeated Springfield Hillcrest Senior Steven Brown by a 14-4 decision. Junior Andrew Leitold won the 195 lb weight class over Lebanon Senior Caleb Barns with a pin fall at the start of the second period.

Senior Floyd Moore also competed for a championship and put on a great show. He lost by pin fall to Junior Ty Glendenning of Lebanon in the first period. Moore has a record of 26-15 on the season and competed in the 182 weight class.

Sophomore Thomas Brady competed in the 106 weight class for third place on the night. He defeated Lebanon Freshman Cole Patton 14-5 and improved his season record to 27-13. Senior Aedan Brady defeated Camdenton Sophomore Wyatt Stamper in the 126 lb weight class by a 6-3 decision. Senior Ethan Gatzmeyer improved his record to 20-10 with a pin fall over Rolla Senior Jacob Dobkins in the final period.

Freshman Jordan Copple fell to Camdenton Sophomore Jacob Fuglsang in a pin fall in the first period in the 113 weight class. Copple goes into districts with a 14-7 record on the season. Heavyweight Junior Tim Brech fell to Rolla Sophomore Justin Briggs in the first period. Brech has a 28-17 record on the season.

The Tigers begin the post season with the Class 4 District 3 tournament on Feb 9th and 10th at Drury University's O'Reilys Center.  Wrestling begins on Friday Feb 9th at 5:30pm.  The top four place finishers of this tournament qualify the the State Meet in Columbia on Feb 15-17th.
