The Richland girls hosted the Newburg Lady Wolves on Thursday. The girls were able to hang on and come away with a Frisco League win. They may also face the Lady Newburg girls again next week in districts.

The Lady Bears took a 24-9 lead after the first period of the game. The RIchland Girls were able to once again out score Newburg in the second period 16-13 in a closer period. The Lady Bears were helped in the first half by Brittany Latham as she score four three pointers in the half. Richland led 40-22 going into the first half.

The Lady Wolves put the pressure on the Lady Bears after halftime as they won the period 14-13. The lead was narrowed down and Richland led after the third Period 53-36. The Lady Bears tried their best in the final quarter to slow down the Newburg girls but were unable to as they his most of their free throws in the final period. The Lady Wolves won the quarter 14-10. The Richland Lady Bears did however have a big enough lead to win the final score 63-50 in a great pre-district matchup next week.

The Richland Lady Bears were led in scoring by Morgan Moss with 22 points and four assists. Brittany Latham added 16 points and six assists in the conference win. Jessi Whittle scored 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Newburg Lady Wolves were led in scoring by Kylee Brookshire with 25 points. She was a key play in the second half comeback attempt. Macy Sushanke score 11 points and Kaylee Skinner added ten points for the Lady Wolves.
