The Waynesville Tigers and Lady Tigers picked up two lat season wins to give them some momentum going into districts. There is one more game for the Tigers this Season against Rolla.

Waynesville Lady Tigers vs Joplin Lady Eagles - Monday

The Waynesville girls ended their regular season with a win over the Lady Eagles in their final Ozark Conference game as they leave for the COC next year. The Lady Tigers picked up a high scoring win.

The freshman team won their game 50-22 and the junior varsity won 33-21 over the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Tigers began the game slow as they were able to take and early 12-9 lead on the night. The Waynesville girls picked up the defense in the second period as they nearly shut of the the Lady Eagles 18-2. The Waynesville Lady Tigers led 30-11 going into halftime.

The Waynesville defense continued to shutdown the Lady Eagles and led the period 16-4. Waynesville was on top 46-15 after three quarters of play in the game. The final quarter was no different as Waynesville once again out scored Joplin 19-1. The Waynesville Lady Tigers won the game over the Joplin Lady Eagles 64-16.

Head Coach Britany Matlock said this after the game, “It was good end to regular season for all three teams. Re’shawna Stone scored her 1,500 point in the first quarter of tonight’s game.”

The Waynesville Tigers were led in the game in scoring by  Both Stone and Shoulders with 19 points each. Evans scored 13 points in the win. Poinsette added seven points of her own. Perry scored four points and Makanani added two points in the Ozark Conference win.

The Joplin Lady Eagles were led in the game by Wagler with eight points in the loss. Both Quinn and Mack scored three points each. Zengel added a basket of her own.

The Lady Tigers next game is in Willard against the Lady Tigers on Monday at 7:30.

Waynesville Tigers vs Wright County Warriors - Tuesday

The Waynesville Boys played their second to last regular season game and picked up a running clock victory over Wright County out of Norwood.

The Tigers began the game by taking a 22-8 lead over the Warriors. Waynesville kept the same pace in the second quarter as they beat the Wright County boys 19-9. The Waynesville Tigers led the game 41-17 at halftime.

The Tigers used the third period to show the crowd how good their defence could be. They shutdown the Warriors 19-3 in the period. Waynesville increased their led to 60-20 after three period of the game. The Tigers and Warrior both let some of the younger player participate in the game in the final quarter. Wright County outscore the young Tigers 26-7. The Waynesville Tigers picked up the win 67-46.

Head Coach Chris Pilz said this going into Districts, “It was a good win for us trying to get some momentum going into Districts next week.  We still need to improve in all areas, but we feel that we are headed in the right direction.  Everybody that played for us contributed tonight.”

The Waynesville Tigers were led in the game by Gunner Reese in the game with 15 points and Carson Cavalier added 11. Shaq Fregiste scored nine points for the Tigers. Both Tanner Simpson and Jayden Smith added six points each in the game. Tahje Stewart score five points. Jared Hyatt and Zeke Rogers each added four points in the win. Hunter O’Neil score three points and David Adams added two. Avant Hill and Caleb Barnes scored a free throw each in the non conference win.

The Wright County Warriors were led in the game by Sid James with 18 point and Peter Puetz with fourteen points. Owen Sullivan scored eight points in the loss. Both Zeb Zinn and Ben Martin score three points each for the Warriors.

The Waynesville Tigers will play the Rolla Bulldogs later this week to determine who the second place team will be in the Ozark Conference this year.
