The Waynesville Lady Tigers fell in the semifinal round of the class 5 district 10 tournament in Willard. The Waynesville girls had a hard fought game against the Willard Lady Tigers, but fell in the close loss.

Both Waynesville and Willard scored 10 points each in the first period. The Willard Lady Tigers were able to just edge out the Waynesville girls 17-14 in the second quarter of the game.

The Willard Lady Tigers were in the lead at the first half over the Lady Tigers 27-24. Both teams were playing to keep the game score low with strong defenses by both teams.

The Waynesville Lady Tigers and Willard girls played another impressive period in the third as the WHS Lady Tigers edged out Willard Lady Tigers 17-16 in the quarter. The Willard Lady Tigers led the game 43- 41 after the third quarter.

Both teams continued to play close in the final period of the game. The Waynesville girls tried to foul the Willard girls in the end but they were unable to pull ahead in the end of the first period. The Willard Lady Tigers were able to hang on and out score the Waynesville Lady Tigers 14-12 during the fourth quarter.

The Willard Lady Tigers won the game 57-53 and will take on the Camdenton Lady Lakers this Friday in the district championship game.

Head Waynesville Lady Tigers Girls Basketball Coach said this after the game, “It was a good season that came to an end with a tough loss.”

The Waynesville Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Stone and Shoulders with 14 points each. Evans scored nine points and Perry added eight in the game. Poinsette scored four points in the loss. Both Handley and Coleman added two points each in the final game of the year for the Lady Tigers.

The Willard Lady Tigers were in in scoring in the district win by Sanders with 16 points. Stout-Mitchel added 10 points for the Willard girls. Bird scored eight points in the win. Dreman and Burson added six points each in the game. Adamson score five points to help the team move on to the next round. Wade and Mahan combined for six points in the close win.

The Waynesville Lady Tigers ended their season with a 20-5 rescord. They have wins over Washington, Jefferson City, Columbia Hickman, Columbia Battle, and State Tournament qualifier Licking.

The girls finished second in the Ozark Conference with losses to Camdenton and Springfield Kickapoo.

Waynesville won the Rolla Holiday Tournament and Washington Tournament. They placed third in the Stephanie Phillips Class at Kickapoo.

The Willard Lady Tigers are now 18-7 on the year have picked up some big wins over the Springfield Catholic, Branson, Carthage, and Webb City. They will face a tough Camdenton Lakers team in district championship.

The winner of this district will most likely face the 16-5 Columbia Rockbridge Lady Bruins in the first round of the the 2018 Missouri Show Me State Basketball Showdown.
