The Waynesville Tigers faced the Camdenton Lakers for the Class 5 District 10 Semi-Final on Tuesday, Feb. 27. This was the second time these two teams faced off this season. The last time both teams played, the Tigers won by 25 at Waynesville High School. This time the game was close, as every team plays their best games to keep their season alive.

Both teams scored well in the opening quarter, but the Tigers took a 16-12 lead after the first period. The Camdenton Lakers stayed much closer in the second period as they we able to outscore the Tigers 15-13.

The Tigers held onto the lead 29-27 in the first first half. The players from the bench played a heavy role in allowing the Tigers to rotate players throughout the first half.

The Tigers again edged out the Lakers 16-12 in the third period. The Waynesville Tigers increased their lead to 45-39 after three quarters of the game. The Lakers and the Tigers both picked up their scoring in the fourth quarter, as the Tigers out paced Camdenton 19-17. The Waynesville boys were able to hit their free throws late in the game and secure the win. The Waynesville Tigers won the game 64-56.

“It was a close game most of the way. Camdenton always plays really hard against us, and we knew they weren't going to go down without a fight,” said Waynesville head coach Chris Pilz. “We had a lot of guys contribute, the starters as well as the bench. At this time of the year you just want to get one more point than the other team and we were able to do that tonight. We now have two days to get ready for a tough Willard team.”

The Tigers were led in scoring by Carson Cavalier with 14 points. Zeke Rogers added 12 points in the District Semi-Final win. David Adams scored ten points for Waynesville. Both Tanner Simpson and Jayden Smith added six points in the win for the Tigers. Tahje Stewart added five points in the win. Both Caleb Barnes and Gunner Reese added four points in the win. Shaq Fregiste score three points for Waynesville.

The Camdenton Laker were led in the game by TJ Anderson who scored 19 points and Galliher with 13 points in the loss. Pasley was not far behind with his 11 points for the Lakers. Delaurent score five points in the game. Virtue scored four points for Camdenton. Eveland and Graves scored two points in the season loss.

The Waynesville Tigers will play the Willard Tigers for the District Championship on Friday at 7:30 PM at Willard High School. This will be the first time both teams have played each other this season. The Willard Tigers are 13-12 on the season and defeated the Lebanon Yellowjackets 65-44 in the semifinal round of the tournament.

The Lebanon Yellowjackets ended their season with a 10-16 record on the season while the Camdenton Laker ended their season with a 4-21 record.
