The Dixon Bulldogs basketball season ended a few weeks ago after a loss in the Class 3 District 9 Quarterfinal game.

This was a year of highs and lows for the Bulldogs. They split wins against the Crocker Lions and Iberia Rangers. In one of their last games, they nearly upset the Licking Wildcats at Licking High School.

The District Coaches voted to include Trey Holzer in the Class 3 All-District team. He is a 6’1” sophomore that led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18.5 points a game. On the defensive side he had 5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

Holzer was a 65 percent shooter from the field and scored 20 points in 12 games this season. He also scored 26 twice this season for a career and season high. He was the difference maker in three pointers as he made at least three shots behind the arc in 12 games for Dixon. Holzer made 60 three pointers and shot 35 percent from behind the line.

He will return for the Dixon Bulldogs next season and continue to be a leader on the young team.
