Filings for county offices closed on Tuesday.

Few county officials will face opposition in the August Primary. Filings for county offices closed on Tuesday.

Associate Circuit Court Magistrate Division Judge Colin Long is running unopposed. For the Probate Division Incumbent Michael V. Headrick will face off against Brandon A.E. Swartz, listed as a Democrat in the November General election. In the August primary, candidates from each party run against each other to narrow the field down to one. In November candidates from opposing parties run against each other

For the Pulaski County Presiding Commissioner’s seat incumbent Gene Newkirk, Republican, will be running against Democratic candidate Sean Avery Wilson. Newkirk and Wilson will be on the August Primary ballot but since they are from different parties, they will challenge each other in the November general election.

The race for Pulaski County Clerk will be decided in August. Incumbent Brent Bassett and challenger Dave Ernst are both running on the Republican ticket.

Pulaski County Clerk and Recorder of Deeds Rachelle Beasley and Treasurer Sue Rapone are running unopposed.

Prosecuting attorney Kevin Hillman, a Republican, will run against Democrat Wayne Gifford. That race will also be decided in November.
