The Dixon Bulldogs and Richland Bears brought medals back to the area when they took part in the Buersmeyer Invitational on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs brought home four place finishes as a team with 78 points, while the Bears came in 11th in the meet. The Lady Bears finished 10th while the Dixon Girls tied for 12th on the night.
Dixon Bulldogs & Lady Bulldogs
The Dixon Bulldogs brought home their first medal on the night with the second place finish in the 100 meter dash. Freshman Travin Weed ran a time of 12.02. It was a personal record run. Dixon freshman Trish Monell placed 11th in the 100 meter dash and ran a person best of 16.52. Junior Asia Davenport also ran a person best and came in 12th with a time of 17.58.
The Dixon boys were once again led by Weed who placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.94. Freshman JP Zollman placed 11th with his personal record run of 26.61. Freshman Alyssa Cash placed 13th in the 200 meter dash with a personal best time of 23.37. Monell placed 15th in the meet.
2017 State Qualifier Senior Zach Shelter won the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.65 during the cold night. Senior Justin Keeth placed third with with a season best time of 58.86 also in the race. Cash finished the 400 in 11th place.
Senior and 2017 State Qualifier Trevor Graves won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.61. Graves also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.33 in the race.
The Distance Bulldogs began with junior Braden Perry placing 9th in the 800 meter run with a run of 2:32.81, while senior Isiah Willis came in 11th with a time of 2:36.64. Junior Chase Beardslee ran a time of 5:46.89 to earn a seventh place finish in the 1600 meter run. Beardslee also placed 7th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:36.
The Bulldogs placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 52.22. The team consisted of Weed, Freshman Colby Marr, Freshman Tyson Reathaford, and Keeth. Dixon also placed second in the 4x200 meter relay as they ran a time of 1:43.76. Keith, Graves, Shelter, and Weed were part of the team.
The Bulldogs were also able to earn a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The Team consisted of B. Perry, Keeth, Willis, and Shelter. Dixon placed fourth in the 4x800 meter run with a time of 9:51.77. The team consisted of Shelter, Beardslee, B. Perry, and Willis.
The Bulldog throwers were led by Reathaford who placed 13th in the meet. Reathaford placed 9th in the discuss with a throw of 88’5”. Freshman Holden Perry placed 20th in the meet in the discuss.
Zollman was able to place 11th in the long jump with a jump of 14’01’ while Junior Gabriel Aldahondo place 18th in the long jump with a person best jump. Davenport placed 13th in the long jump also with a personal best jump by her.
The Dixon Bulldogs are scheduled to compete at Russellville tomorrow at 10:30 AM.
Richland Bears & Lady Bears
The Bears had two runners in the 100 meter dash. Sophomores Derek Graves and Alex Coburn both ran personal record and finished 13th and 16th in the race. Richland senior Casey Goodrich also ran a season high time and placed 16th in the meet.
Both Graves and Coburn placed 15th and 16th in the 200 meter dash with times of 28.54 and 25.84. Coburn placed 13th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.18. Graves placed 19th in the 400 and also ran a personal best time. Sophomore Megan Peterson finished 12th in the 400 with a season best time during the meet.
Freshman Dominque Wadley placed tenth in the 110 meter hurdles for the Bears. Wadley also placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles to score some points for the Richland.
Sophomore Gage Mitchusson placed 16th in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 3:15.37. Junior Adrialise Jones placed seventh in the 800 with a season best time of 3:48.10. Mitchusson placed 13th in the 1600 meter run with a personal record time. Sophomore Lindsay Peterson placed 12th in the 1600 meter with a season record time.
Richland Bears freshman Logan Sasseen placed 16th in the shot put. Sasseen placed 13th in the discuss for the Bears with a personal best throw of 77’04”. Sophomore Cameron Rodgers placed 18th in the discuss.
