The Waynesville Tigers baseball team hosted the future Ozark Conference Central Bulldogs from Springfield. There in able to defeat them in five innings with a score of 10-0.
The Tigers and Bulldogs both pitched well in the first couple of innings, as the score remained tied 0-0 after two innings. Waynesville scored one run in the third inning, while their bats heated up and they scored three more runs in the fourth inning. That gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead after four innings. Waynesville scored six more run in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the 10-0 win.
Tanner Simpson stole a base and drove in a run. Noah Ochoa hd two hits, a run, and hit in a run in the win. Ethan Gatzemeyer scored a run for the Tigers. David Stearns was walked and had a run. Cameron Marcum had a hit, scored a run, and had two RBI. Ethan Brown had two runs and two hits in the game. Briley Wade had three hits and two runs in the big win. Colin Crockett scored twice and added an RBI.
Simpson won the game in four innings by allowing one hit, while striking out eight of the Bulldogs. Noah Ochoa pitched one inning to close out the game and struck of two Central players.
Waynesville Tigers head baseball coach Scott Turner said this after the game, “Tanner Simpson went four strong innings allowing one hit while striking out eight. Noah Ochoa finished the game going the last inning striking out two and allowing no hits. Briley Wade had a great day at the plate going three for three with a double. Ethan Brown also had two hits. That moves us to 4-3 on the season and a 3 game winning streak.”
The Junior Varsity team won the game 15-0. Tim Griffin threw a one hitter with his four innings of pitching.
