The Dixon Bulldogs traveled to Laquey High School on Monday and came back with their eighth win in a row. This also gave them their first conference victory of the spring season.

The Bulldogs began the game by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Dixon sealed the game off in the second inning as they added six more runs in the top of the second. The Bulldogs led 8-0 after three innings of play. Dixon went on to score three runs in the third while they finished the game off in the fifth inning by scoring six more runs. The Bulldogs won the game in six innings with a score of 17-0.

Walker Shelton picked up the win after pitching two innings. He allowed two hits while striking out five Hornets in the win. Evan Nickels pitched one inning and struck one Laquey batter out, while giving up one hit on the night. Shea Houle pitched 1.1 innings and struck three batter outs, while also allowing one hit. Clayton Sinden closed the game out and struck of two more Hornets.

Braden Mahurin was perfect at the plate. He had three hits and scored four times in the win. He also hit in four Bulldogs. Shelton hit a single and two doubles in the game. He also had a run batted in and score twice by himself. Cyrus Nickels had three singles in the game and hit in three Dixon Bulldogs. Tyler Morgan had two singles, while scoring a run and hitting a run in. Nickels had a hit and a run on the night. Sabastian Salais scored four runs, hit one in, and hit a single in the win.

Head Dixon Bulldogs Coach Alex Shelton said this about the first conference win, “This was a nice win for us tonight. We came out and played good all around baseball. Our pitchers did an excellent job,the defense was good, and we hit the ball really well. The win puts us at 8-1 overall and 1-0 in Conference play.”
