The Dixon Bulldogs had their second game of the spring season. They were able to get a 14-run shutout.
The Dixon girls scored the 14 runs on eight hits while the Niangua Cardinals were scoreless on one hit.
Tressa Hughes and Lauren Gilbert both led the Bulldogs with two hits. Taylor McKinnon, Izzy Thiltgen, Bethan Koch, and Teira Weed all had on hit each. McKinnon scored three runs to lead the team in points. Lauren Gilbert, Ryli Martin, and Koch all scored two runs each. Tressa Hughes, Thiltgen, Weed, Maddy Yoakum, and Lillian Malone scored one run each.
McKinnon, Hughes, Gilbert and Thiltgen had two runs batted in each. Emily Johnson and Yoakum both batted one run in each.
Hughes and Gilbert both stole a base during the game. McKinnon, Gilbert, Weed and Yoakum all had two walks in the game. Martin, Thiltgen, Koch and Malone also made it to base by a walk.
Head Dixon Bulldogs softball coach Michael Flaugher said this about Hughes and the win, “Tressa Hughes got the win allowing one hit and striking out 12 in five innings. Dixon scored five in the first, six in the third, and three in the fourth.”
