The Waynesville Tigers and Dixon Bulldogs played several games over the weekend.

Dixon Bulldogs

The Dixon Bulldogs played on Wednesday and Friday, picking up wins over Belle and Bourbon.

Belle Tigers - Wednesday

The Bulldogs picked up a 13-3 win. Dixon began the game by scoring in their first three innings. They scored three runs in the first, two in the second and five in the third inning. Belle scored two run in the fifth inning to the one that Dixon scored. Dixon closed the game out in the six inning to secure the 10 run win.

Tyler Morgan had three hits with four run batted in. He also score once in the game. Sabastian Salais had three hits that also hit in three batters. He score twice also. Shea Houle had two hits and a run. Cyrus Nickels hit in a run with his one hit. Shannon Kampeter also had a hit and scored twice in the win.

Head Dixon Bulldogs baseball coach Alex Shelton said this after the game, “I felt like we were really ready to play tonight. We came out and jumped on them early. We hit the ball really well and executed very well. Starter Braden Mahurin was also very sharp and pitched a strong five innings before giving way to Sabastian Salais who worked the last inning. We were glad to get a chance to play Belle again, as they have been our only loss from early in the year in an extra inning game. The win puts us at 13-1 this spring and 4-0 in Conf.”

Bourbon Warhawks - Friday

The Bulldogs were able to get a 2-0 win over the Warhawks by scoring one run in the fourth and one in the sixth innings. The won the game that to out hitting the Bourbon Boys 5-2 during the close game.

Morgan had two hits in the game off of two runs batted in. Braden Mahurin had a double and scored in the game. Salais had a run and hit a single. Walker Shelton stole two bases and had a hit. Shelton also pitched the complete game and only allowed two hits on 11 strikeouts.

Coach Shelton said this after the game, “This was another nice win for us tonight. In a night where our offense didn’t do a whole lot, Walker Shelton brought his A-game to the mound while firing a complete game that was a two hit shutout. He was dominant from the get go by allowing just three baserunners all night. He did a great job of getting ahead and a great job of changing speeds all night long.  He also struck out 11 Warhawk hitters. Tyler Morgan had two clutch RBI hits that would prove to be the only runs on the night. The win puts us at 14-1 this spring.”

Waynesville Tigers

The Tigers faced the Lebanon Yellow Jackets and the Joplin Eagles in Ozark Conference action. 

Lebanon Yellow Jackets - Wednesday

The Tigers face the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday and fell 12-2 to a very good Lebanon team. The Lebanon hitters were strong during the night. As they were able to score quickly and keep a lead. Lebanon scored one run in the first and second inning. They scored four runs each in the third and fourth inning. They also added two more runs in the sixth to end the game. Waynesville scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Tanner Simpson, Colin Crockett, Ethan Gatzemeyer, and Ethan Brown all had a hit in the game. Noah Ohoa and Saul DeHart both had a run in the game.

Joplin Eagles - Thursday

The Tigers fell to the Eagles in Joplin on Thursday 5-0. Joplin was able to score two runs in the first inning. They scored one run in the fifth and added two more runs in the sixth.

Colin Crockett and Briley Wad both had a hit in the game. Ethan Brown had five strike out in five innings pitched while Cameron Marcum added one strike out.

The Tigers are 4-7 on the season.
