The Waynesville Tigers hosted several teams on Friday for their varsity track meet. The Tigers won the meet while the Lady Tigers placed fourth as a team.

Waynesville Lady Tigers

Senior Katie Handley placed fifth in the meet with a time of 13.30 in the 100 meter dash. Both freshman Astacia Garcia and Handley placed 4th and 5th in the 200 meter dash with times of 27.51 and 28.04. Garcia and junior Amaya Wright placed third and fourth in the 400 meter dash with the times of 63.39 and 65.88 in a very fast race.

Senior Makkah Mujahid placed fifth in the meet with a time of 2:37.20 in the 800 meter run. Sophomore Madelyn Newson also placed fifth in the 1600 meter run with a good time of 5:56.08.

Sophomore Oasia Goodell placed third in the 100 meter hurdles with here time of 17.10 in the race. Handley placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with here fast time of 50.57.

The Lady Tigers 4x100 meter relay ran a time of 53.78 and placed fifth in the very fast heat. The team consisted of junior Gracie Hutchinson, junior Victoria Perry, sophomore Megan Pattison and junior Afatia Poinsette. Waynesville also placed third in the 4x200 meter relay with their time of Perry, Poinsette, Garcia and Handley. The 4x400 meter relay team finished in the top four of the race. Freshman Bailey Shultz, Pattison, Wright and Mujahid were all part of the team. The 4x800 meter relay team that consisted of senior Aliaxces Bartley, Garcia, Mujahid and Newson. They ran a time of 10:38 in the race.

Sophomore Oceana Goodell was the runner up in the high jump with a leap of 5’-0”. Senior Lacey Squires won the pole vault with a jump of 9’-6” in the event. Hutchinson placed third in the long jump with the distance of 15’-9”. Poinsette placed seventh with a leap of 15’-0”.

Senior Kiera Shoulders placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 30’-1 ¾”.

Helias Catholic from Jefferson City won the meet with 165.5, while West Plains placed second with 146 points. The defending state champion Camdenton Lady Lakers placed third with 140.5 team points. 

Waynesville Tigers

Senior Darrin Roy was the runner up in the 100 meter dash with his run of 11.34. Roy was the runner up in the 200 meter dash with a time of  23.05. Senior Felix McCorkle was not far behind him with a run of 23.55 in the 200. Freshman Almonza Martin was the runner up in the 400 meter dash with his run of 51.93 in a fast race. Sophomore Jimmy Murphy placed fourth with his time of 53.16.

Senior Luke Morrison placed fourth in the 3200 meter run with his near season best time of 10:22.24.

Senior Quinton Taylor was the runner up in the 110 meter hurdles. He ran the race in 16.56. Taylor also placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with the time of 44.31.

The Tigers were the 4x100 meter relay team champions. They ran a time of 43.78 by team members Tripp, Roy, McCorkle and junior Jonathan Fobish. Waynesville also won the 4x200 meter relay. The same team as the 4x100 ran the race in 1:31.19. The Tigers were also the 4x400 meter champions. They ran the race in 3:30.82. The team consisted of Murphy, Martin, McCorkle and senior Jonathan Rae. Waynesville was the runner up in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of senior Victor Daos, sophomore John Pena-Baker, senior Eric Head, and Morrison ran the race in a time of 8:38.51.

Waynesville took both first and second in the high jump. Murphy won with a leap of 6’-0”, while Hyatt was the runner up with the same height. Gates was the long jump champion with his leap of 22’-8” while Pouncy took third place with a leap of 20’-07”. Gates was also the triple jump champion with his leap of 46’-0 ¼”. Senior Lamone Tolivar was the runner up with his leap of 56’-4”.

Waynesville won the meet with 162 points, while West Plains was the runner up with 120.5 points. Liberty High School from Wentzville place third with 98 points. 

Dixon Bulldogs

The Dixon Bulldogs senior Zach Shetler won the 400 meter dash with a school record time of 51.75 seconds. Senior Trevor Graves placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 16.71. Graves placed fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 44.77 seconds.

The Bulldogs placed sixth in the 4x200 meter dash with his run of 1:38.76. The team consisted of Shetler, Graves, senior Isaiah Willis and senior Justin Keeth. The Bulldogs placed sixth in the 4x400 meter dash. They ran a season best time of 3:43.13 in the race. The team members were Shelter, junior Braden Perry, Willis and Keeth.

Freshman Travin Weed placed seventh with his leap of 5’-6” in the high jump.

The Dixon Bulldogs placed eighth at a team in the tough varsity meet.
