The Dixon Bulldogs traveled to Plato last week and defeated the Eagles in Frisco League action. Dixon won the game 9-1 and remains undefeated in conference action.

The Bulldogs came out and scored three runs in the top of first inning. Plato responded in the same inning with a run of their own. The Dixon hitters led 3-1 and never looked back after that. Dixon scored one run in the second, two in the fourth and three more in the sixth to secure the win.

Head Dixon Bulldogs baseball coach Alex Shelton said this after the game, “This was a nice win for us tonight against a conference rival, Plato.  We came out and controlled the game from the beginning by jumping on them for three runs in the first, thanks to a two RBI double by Tyler Morgan and a two out hit by Shea Houle.”

Braden Mahurin pitched a complete game of seven innings on the night and only allowed one run from Plato on their six hits. He struck out out 11 Eagles in the game and walked just one.

Shelton also said this about the pitching, “Senior Braden Mahurin was sharp on the mound and pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run over seven innings.”

Tyler Morgan had two hits in the game and scored twice. He also hit in four Bulldogs. Houle had two hits and a run batted in. Jaryn Brown had a single, double, and a run batted in. Mahurin hd two runs, a double and a stolen base. Shannon Kampeter had a hit and a run in the win. Cyrus Nickels had a hit and scored a run while Walker Shelton hit a double and run batted in.

Shelton also said this, “We played a very solid game in all areas tonight and I am proud of how we were ready to compete.  The win puts us at 15-2 (5-0 Conf.) this spring.”

The junior varsity team won their game in a shutout. The Bulldogs scored three in the first, two in the third and five in the fourth to give them a 6-0 win.

Evan Nickels pitched a complete one hitter game in four innings to get the win. He had seven strikeouts.

Tyler Morgan had a single and a run while Cyrus Nickels had a single, two runs and hit in two batters. Several other bulldogs also contributed runs and hits.
