The Waynesville Tigers and Lady Tigers traveled to John F Kennedy Stadium at Parkview High School in Springfield on Wednesday and competed in the Ozark Conference Track Meet. The Tigers placed fourth in the meet. The Lady Tigers placed eighth in the meet.
The Tigers came in fourth with 95 points behind the Joplin Eagles, West Plains Zizzers, and Kickapoo Chiefs.
The Tigers began the running events strong by placing second in the 4x800 meter relay. They team of John Pena-Baker, Bryan O’Barr, Luke Morrison and Victor Daos ran a time of 8:32.40. Waynesville placed fourth in the 4x200 meter relay with the time of 1:33.40. The Team consisted of Darrin Roy, Felix McCorkle, Kaiden Tripp and Johnathan Fobish. The Tigers were the third place team in the 4x100 meter relay with the run of 44.84. The race was run by Roy, Tripp, McCorkle and Fobish. The Tigers were the runner up in the 4x400 meter relay with their time of 3:31.20.
Quinton Taylor was the third place finisher in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 16.04. McCorkle placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with his run of 22.96.
Pena-Baker placed fifth in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:04.30 in the race. O’Barr placed seventh in the 3200 meter run with the time of 10:38.88 on the night.
Jimmy Murphy was the runner up in the high jump with his leap of 5’8”. Tracey Gates won the long jump with the leap of 22’-11” while Tyler Pouncy jumped 21’-01”. Gates was also the triple jump champion with the jump of 46’-4”. Lamone Tollivar placed third with the jump of 45’-6”.
Timothy Brech placed fourth in the javelin with the throw of 150’-0”.
The Waynesville Lady Tigers placed eighth in the meet. Kickapoo edged out the defending State Champion Camdenton Lady Lakers by five points to win the conference title.
The Lady Tigers placed third in the 4x800 meter relay with the time of 10:36.71. The team members were Alaixes Bartley, Makkah Mujahid, Madelyn Newsom and Chambre Garcia. Waynesville also placed fifth in the 4x200 meter relay with the run of 1:50.68. The team consisted of Victoria Perry, Katie Handley, Afatia Poinsette and Astacia Garcia. The Lady Tigers also placed seventh in the 4x100 meter relay with the combines run of 53.12. The team was Poinsette Gracie Hutchinson, Perry and Hannah Hedrick. Waynesville placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with their time of 4:22.14. The team consisted of Wright, Garcia, Handley and Mujahid.
Mujahid placed sixth in the 800 meter run with the time of 2:40.67 on the night. Oasia Goodell placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with the time of 17.28 in the race.
Oceana Goodell placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 4’-8”. Lacey Squires was the runner up in the pole vault with here leap of 9’-0” in the event. Hannah Hedrick placed third with the jump of 15’-3” in the long jump. Hedrick also placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 33’-9”.
The Waynesville Tigers will host the Class 5 District Meet next Saturday on May 12th at Waynesville High School.
