The Crocker Lions, and Dixon Bulldogs brought back medals and All-State honors from the Class 2 Missouri State Championship Track and Field Meet over the weekend.
Crocker Lions & Lady Lions
The Lions brought back four medals from the State Championship. Two were in jumps and two were in relays.
Sophomore Clyde Hoxworth opened he individual sprints for the Lions in the 100 meter dash. He placed 14th in the state with the time of 11.72. Junior Ethan Gan nearly missed the finals in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.62. He placed 11th in the state with the finish.
The Lions 4x100 meter relay team placed seventh in the preliminary heat of the meet. They ran a time of 45.07 in their heat. Crocker was able to also qualify in the 4x200 meter relay with the time of 1:33.58. They placed eighth in the preliminary round with five teams all running at 1:33 in the event. The Lions 4x400 meter team ran a fast time of 3:39.86 to finish 12th in the preliminary races.
Senior Adam Shockley competed in both the long jump and the triple jump. He placed 11th in the long jump with the leap of 19’-7 ¾”, while he made All State with the finish of sixth in the triple jump. He jumped 41”-11 ¾” in the state finals.
Crocker finished 8th in the 4x100 meter relay in the state finals with the time of 46.18. The Lions were able to improve two places in the finals of the 4x200 and earn 6th place medals with the run of 1:33.20.
Senior Ethyn Boorom tied for 8th place in the state in the high jump with the leap of 6’0”. Senior Dillon Porter made the finals in the pole vault and placed 9th in the state with the jump of 12’-6”.
The Lady Lions had several runners and jumpers that competed but did not bring home any medals. They all were in the top 16 athletes of the state.
Sophomore Abigail Posten placed 15th in the preliminary races with the time of 13.35. The Lady Lions 4x100 meter team relay team placed 13th in the state with the run of 53.90 in the preliminary run. Crocker placed 15th in the state with the run of 11:20.46 in the 4x800 meter relay. Posten placed 14th in the triple jump with the leap of 31’-5”.
The Bulldogs returned to Dixon with seventh place medals in the javelin and in the 400 meter dash.
Senior Zach Shetler placed eighth in the 400 meter dash with the time of 52.17 in the preliminary heat of the championship meet. Senior Trevor Graves improved on last years state performance and place 13th with a time of 42.45 in 300 meter hurdles.
The Dixon boys 4x400 meter relay finished their season run with a time of 3:45.21 in the preliminary round.
Junior Brady Perry ended the year by placing seventh in the javelin. He threw the javelin 144’ to secure his All-State medal.
Shetler came back to Jefferson City on Saturday and was able to improve one spot in the state 400 meters by finishing seventh in the very fast finals. Shetler ran a time of 52.99, while the winner of the event ran a near top state time in all classes of 49.91.
