Robbery results in up to $300,000 bond
Four suspects are behind bars after allegedly setting an unsuspecting victim up to be robbed at a St. Robert motel. Bonds on the suspects range from $50,000 to $300,000.
Xavier Chambers, 21, of Waynesville, Clarence Elliott, 43, of Dixon, Cheyanne Joy, 18, of Laquey, and Chaunecia Berry, 18, of St. Robert were charged with robbery in the first degree. Berry, Elliott, and Chambers were charged with armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim claimed he had been at a local bar, meet a woman and went back to his room with her. He alleged that not long after entering the motel room, two armed, unidentified males came into the victim’s room and stole cash, a Rolex watch and several other items, including clothing and keys. The suspects were allegedly caught on video running from the motel room and getting into a waiting vehicle,
The males were later identified as Elliott and Chambers. The female was identified as Berry.
According to the court documents, Joy told detectives that she drove Chambers, Elliott, and Berry to the motel.
Chambers’s bond is $300,000. Elliott’s bond is $300,000 as well. Joy’s bond is $50,000. Berry’s bond is $150,000.
