The summer season is winding down for the youth softball teams. The Dixon girls faced each other on Monday, as well as the third grade Crocker girls ending their summer in Dixon. Dixon had wins in both games.

Dixon Lady Bulldogs vs Dixon Diamonds - Middle School

Both Dixon teams faced each other in an all Dixon softball matchup. Both were coming in with winning records for the summer. The Diamonds, however, had the older players and it showed. The Diamonds won the game with a decision of 18-1.

The first inning began with the Lady Bulldogs failing to get a batter over the plate and did not score a run. The Diamonds came out ready and broke the ice with seven runs off of eight batters on base. The Diamonds led 7-0 after the first inning.

The Lady Bulldogs once again struggled to score again in the top of the second inning and still trailed 7-0 after the first half. The Diamonds were able to score one run in the bottom half and increase their lead to 8-0 in the game.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up their first run of the game off a steal in the top of the third inning. The Dixon Diamonds responded with a furry and added seven more runs to the total. That gave them a 15-1 lead after the third inning.

The fourth and final inning was another exciting one as the Lady Bulldogs had several runners on base, but could not get any to score. The Diamonds scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the win. The Dixon Diamonds won the game 18-1 and finished the summer with an undefeated regular season record.

Dixon Dirt Divas vs Crocker Lady Lions - 3rd Grade

The Crocker Lady Lions traveled to Dixon where the game was a high scoring one. The Dirt Divas won the game 19-7 in five innings.

The first inning was high scoring one for both teams. The Lady Lions took a 2-0 lead after the first half of the inning. Dixon did not take that sitting down when they were able to get the lead back after the inning by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the inning. The Dirt Divas led 7-2 after one inning.

The second inning was a great defensive matchup as neither team was able to get a base runner on the plate. Dixon still led 7-2 after the inning.

The third inning was another wind one as the Lady Lions pick up two more runs in the top half of the inning. The cut the Dixon lead to 7-4. The girls in pink knocked the dust off of their bats in the bottom half as they scored five runs of their own. This gave them a 12-4 lead by the bottom of the third.

The fourth inning was one that the Crocker girls tried to make a come back from. They managed to get three of their five base runners around the plate and cut the Dixon lead to 12-7. The Dirt Divas were able to close the game out by scoring seven more runs in the bottom half. Dixon led 19-7 after the inning and hung on to win with that score. Neither team scored in the fifth inning.
